Why we don't promise specific rankings
Revenueholic refuses ranking guarantees in every contract. A specific rank is not a stable target: it is personalized, device-specific and changes between searches by three or more places. We commit to three measurable things instead: intent coverage, technical health and share-of-voice change over 90 days.
What This Is
Revenueholic refuses ranking guarantees in every contract. A specific rank is not a stable target: it is personalized, device-specific and changes between searches by three or more places. We commit to three measurable things instead: intent coverage, technical health and share-of-voice change over 90 days.
Before you check
A rank is a result Google assigns, not an input we set.
State the business result you want (traffic, sessions or revenue), not just a position.
Have Search Console access so we can measure share of voice.
Diagnostic tree
Run the checks in order. Each check ends in a resolution or the next check.
Check 1. Does the same query return the same position for every searcher?
How: run the query on two devices or from two locations. Compare the positions.
Why: Google personalizes results by search history, location and device. The position you see is not the position another searcher sees.
If the position differs by three or more places, go to Resolution A. If the position is identical across devices and locations, go to Check 2.
Check 2. Does the position hold for 14 days or more?
How: track the position daily for 14 days with no site changes.
Why: rankings change day to day with no intervention. A position that shifts within 14 days is not something anyone can promise.
If the position shifts within 14 days, go to Resolution A. If it holds for 14 days or more, go to Check 3.
Check 3. Is the goal a rank number or a business result?
How: ask the client what they will do with the rank number. State the result they want as one number (traffic, sessions or revenue).
Why: a rank is a means. The end is traffic and revenue, which we can move and measure over 90 days.
If the goal is traffic, sessions or revenue over 90 days, go to Resolution B. If the goal is the rank number itself, go to Resolution A.
Resolutions
Resolution | Condition | Action |
|---|---|---|
A. Rank cannot be promised | The rank differs by searcher, shifts within 14 days, or is wanted for its own sake | We refuse the guarantee. See Resolution B |
B. Commit to measurable inputs | The goal is traffic, sessions or revenue | Track intent coverage, technical health and share-of-voice change over 90 days |
Resolution B in detail
Three measurable inputs replace a rank promise.
Intent coverage. We map the queries that matter and publish one page per intent. Success is the share of target queries with a published, indexed page.
Technical health. We keep the site crawlable, fast and free of blocking errors. Success is a clean core vitals and index coverage report.
Share-of-voice change. We track impressions and clicks across the target queries over 90 days. Success is a rising share, not a fixed position.
When to escalate
Escalate when all three are true.
A client asks for a written rank guarantee.
The client declines the three commitments above.
The request is blocking the contract.
We refuse the guarantee and do not sign it. There is no case where we sign a rank guarantee.
